![]() ![]() Vegas Line: Jacksonville - 10.5 Cleveland + 10.5 Over/Under: 38.5 The Browns played Jacksonville very tough both games last year. The Jaguars come in very banged up with some key players out of the game or banged up. Running back Fred Taylor, safety Carnell Lake, OT Leon Searcy, WR R. Jay Soward, C John Wade, FB Daimon Shelton, DE Joel Smeenge, these players will miss the game. Q.B. Brunell and their best lineman Tony Boselli are banged up along with a few other players. When RB Taylor use to get hurt they had the luxury of bringing in RB James Stewart who is now playing for the Lions. The backups they have now are Stacey Mack and Chris Howard and will try to run behind an offensive line that’s really banged up! They still have WR Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell to throw to. I don’t think they’ll get too much of a run game going but will try once in a while. Look for the quick slant patterns that the Packers used against us to set up the bomb! Mount a pass rush and keep Brunell contained in the pocket. Have the linebacker’s drop into a zone to break up the slant patterns and the safeties can’t fall for the play fakes. If the Browns defense can do this they’ll have to lookout for the Jaguars to make adjustments and start throwing to the TE. Established the running game and mix in short to long passes. Get good field position with our special teams. The Jaguars have only one real pass rushing DE and that is Brackens. He missed most of the training camp and I don’t think he is in tiptop shape? The Jaguars do have some fast DB’s and their linebacking core is excellent and is the best part of their defense. They’ll be trying different blitzes to get at Couch. It’s hard to get reads on any teams till a few games into the season. But with the Browns you won’t be able to tell about them till around the tenth game because of all the young players. The Browns played them tough last year with a worst team, while the Jaguars are about the same…I’ll take the Browns in an upset! Hoping for our first home win, game should be close. |

I was wrong with the upset! The Browns played the Jags pretty tough the first half. I seen two plays on the offense that took the wind out of them! First Steve Zahursky got a 15 yd un-sportsmen like penalty after the Browns got a first down on the Jags 44 yd line. The second one was a big one, Aaron Shea fumbled on the Jags 10 yd line with the Browns still in the game and moving well!
The pass rush was great but our corners weren't close to covering anyone. These are mistakes are coming from a very young team and will be corrected through the season.
