Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch drafted number one by the Browns! He has signed a seven year deal with the Browns..so he won't be a hold out for training camp! That was very important with the Browns.

Was I surprised...NO! I would have been, if they didn't take him! He is only twenty-one years old and is great at reading defenses and has great field vision. His arm strength was a big knock against him but he proved to the Browns coaching staff that it was good enough.

"Chris Palmer and Dwight Clark were drooling from the mouth after the second Couch, workout!" The Browns managed to keep it quite on who they wanted till he was signed. This drove the media and the fans crazy-ha! The speculation on who they might take was the talk of the town.

Couch completed 66.1 percent of his passes (681-1,030) in his career, which sets a new NCAA record. Couch became eligible for the listing after exceeding 1,000 pass attempts. He broke the SEC record for total offensive yards per game in a career. In 25 games as a Wildcat, Couch has amassed 6,709 total offensive yards, an average of 268.4 yards per game. The old record was 264 yards per game by Shane Matthews of Florida.
